PERIODONTAL DISEASE TREATMENT

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, and it's often painless until it's advanced. We use saliva diagnostic testing to identify the exact bacteria causing infection, then treat it, often with laser therapy instead of traditional surgery.

Treatment starts with a in-depth cleaning of the tooth root surfaces to remove plaque, tartar, and the bacterial toxins causing infection. In some cases, we use OralDNA saliva testing to identify the exact bacteria involved, so treatment targets the actual source of the problem, not just the symptoms.

Whenever possible, we use Laser Periodontal Therapy instead of traditional surgery, a more precise and comfortable option that supports healing without cutting or sutures.

If you're noticing any of these signs, we'd urge you not to wait. Schedule a periodontal health assessment and let's catch it early.

Our approach:

Bleeding or swollen gums, persistent bad breath, and mobility are the most common early signs, even when nothing hurts.

Signs to watch for:

Periodontal Disease Treatment

Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, and in most cases, it doesn't hurt. That's what makes it dangerous. It begins when bacteria grow beneath the gums, and as it spreads, it slowly breaks down the very foundation that holds your teeth in place, your gum tissue and jawbone. Left untreated, it doesn't just threaten your smile. Research has linked it to heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and other health complications.

For patients who feel anxious about dental visits, Dr. Williams has completed advanced training in conscious oral sedation. You'll remain conscious and able to respond throughout your visit, but in a deeply relaxed state, whether that's through a prescribed oral sedative or nitrous oxide. Many patients find that sedation makes treatment easier to get through, and some don't remember much about the procedure at all afterward.

We'll review your options together during your consultation, so you feel confident and comfortable before treatment even begins.

Comfort Care:

We offer Botox right in our office for treatment of facial and lip wrinkles, crow's feet, and brow creases. Dentists have a deep understanding of facial and jaw muscles and nerves, which makes this a natural extension of our expertise. Botox can also offer relief for TMJ sufferers, relaxing the jaw joint muscles and easing tension.

Facial Esthetics:

Dr. Williams is trained in Nobel Biocare All-on-4 implant placement, a technique that secures a full arch of teeth with just 4 implants. That means you can wear your complete denture immediately, with the confidence to laugh, eat, and smile again without worry.

If you're missing a tooth or currently wear dentures, we'd invite you to schedule a consultation and let us help you decide if dental implants are the right solution for you.

For denture wearers:

As a periodontal specialist, Dr. Williams provides the surgical placement of your implant, and in some cases, tissue or bone grafting to create a strong, healthy foundation for it first. Careful planning matters here. Dr. Williams works directly with your general dentist or prosthodontist to coordinate every step, from surgical placement to your final restoration.

Our role:

DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental implants act as permanent anchors for the root portion of a missing tooth, giving you a stable, natural feeling foundation to build on. They're used to stabilize complete and partial dentures, retain dental bridges, or replace a single missing tooth altogether.

If a "gummy" smile makes your teeth look too short, or gum recession makes them look too long, laser periodontics can reshape your gum line to correct it. For recession specifically, we perform soft tissue grafting to encourage healthy new tissue growth and restore a more youthful, balanced smile.

Change begins with a phone call. Reach out to schedule a consultation, and let's talk about what's possible for your smile.

Cosmetic gum reshaping:

Surgical & Cosmetic Periodontics

Healthy, symmetrical gums do more than support your teeth, they frame your smile the way a good frame completes a painting. Dr. Williams performs both surgical and cosmetic periodontal procedures, often using laser technology instead of traditional cutting and sutures, for a more precise, more comfortable experience.

Surgical procedures we perform:

  • Osseous Surgery & Crown Lengthening. Adjusting bone and tissue levels to support the health and longevity of dental restorations.
  • Guided Tissue and Bone Regeneration. Using special membranes to stimulate the regrowth of previously lost gum and bone tissue.
  • Frenectomy. Removing or recontouring excess connective tissue, often the cause of a gap between the front teeth.
